The purpose of the optimizations page is to connect different data sources that provide performance data on your products and cross-reference them to build product sets where underperforming SKUs are excluded.

Activating an Optimization

You can find the optimizations page from the main navigation on the left side of your screen.

On the optimizations page you will see a list of available optimizations for you to activate.

Different optimizations will require you to have certain platforms connected to Marpipe. You will be prompted to connect any required platforms upon activation if you have not already done so.

Once you click activate on an optimization you are able to edit the settings or just quickly continue with the recommended default settings. After continuing the optimization will start building into the feed.

If you intend to use these optimizations on any platforms other than Meta, then you will need to toggle on "use custom labels" and choose a custom label where you don't have any other important info in your source feed.

Once the optimization is built it will add the relevant label to the "internal_label" field in your output feed. The SKUs that receive the internal label are the SKUs that did not get cut based on the optimization settings. These are the good ones that will build enhanced product sets with.

Using an Optimization in Catalog Ads

Now that you've activated the optimization, the good SKUs will be labeled in the internal_label field and the custom_label field (if toggled on).

The next step is to use these fields to build a product set in your ad platform. All ad platform have some way to save a group of products based on some criteria in the feed.

If you didn't know product sets are a way to control which group of products is allowed to show up in a dynamic ad.

Go to where product sets are built in the ad platform's catalog manager and make a new product set based on filters. Choose internal label (or custom label).

You should see the "MP" label for the optimization. If you don't see it then try forcing a feed update in the ad platform.

Set the criteria so that this product set only includes SKUs with that internal_label (or custom_label).

Now you're ready to go. Experiment with using this product set in your ads.

You can also combine the optimization filter criteria in other product sets to optimize your existing sets. Think "Hoodies with the worst sellers removed"
