There are certain settings in Meta that will prevent an assigned treatment from being previewed in Meta and seen by users and audiences. Below is a running list of settings to ensure are turned off in order to properly see ads run with assigned treatments:
Ad creative section
Dynamic media
Meta will show either the product image or a product video if available and its algorithm determines that a stronger chance of conversion will occur on the video. Videos will not appear for all products in the ad. If this is turned on, your ad may show a mix of videos and static images across the carousel cards. It's recommended to keep this unchecked in order to have all product cards in the ad use a static image.
Creative options
It's always advised to keep Creative options set to Single image. The Slideshow option will just cycle through all of the additional images per product card. Since Marpipe's Mutli-treatment feeds set each treatment as an additional image per product, if Slideshow is enabled, you will just see each product card cycle through all of your creative treatments being delivered to the catalog
Format display options
If Show as collection is turned on, Meta may deliver your ad in a collection style format like below:
Assigned treatments will not appear on the ad if it is delivered in this format. It's advised to keep this option unchecked
Advantage+ Creative Enhancements
When Advantage+ creative enhancements are turned on, Meta alters the creative for the ad delivery. This can include the following:
Generate Backgrounds - Meta will use its own AI generated product images in favor of any standard product image or Marpipe treatment. It's advised to always have this turned off
Add dynamic overlays - Meta will apply a badge, tag, or text in the corners of the ad's product images, potentially obscuring the Marpipe treatment. It's advised to keep this feature turned off
Image touch-ups (formally known as Adapt to Placement) - Meta will zoom in, crop, or add borders to your ad's product images to expand their sizes in order to fit into 4:5 or 9:16 placements. This can cause cropping, shifting, or alternate images to appear for products rather than the intended Marpipe treatment. It's advised to turn this off if you are not actively using Marpipe's Multi Aspect Ratio feature.
Add standard labels (under Essential Enhancements) - Meta will add standard “Sale," "Price drop" or store availability labels like "Pickup today" to your ad's product images, potentially obscuring the Marpipe treatment. It's advised to keep this feature turned off
All other Advantage+ creative enhancements do not alter the ad's product images and can remain on if preferred, but Marpipe cannot guarantee proper delivery of the treatments if they are turned on
Advertising Settings
There is an option in Advertising Settings to enroll in Meta's creative testing. If turned on, your Marpipe treated ads may to not appear as expected for up to 5% of your audiences, including you. You can view if this setting has been automatically turned on and turn it off by following the steps below:
Go to Ads Manager
On the left-nav bar, go to the All tools
In the menu that appears, click Advertising Settings
Under Creating ads, you’ll see Advantage+ creative with an option for Test new creative enhancements
If this option is turned on, turn it off
